Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) – Policy Update
Posted by RIDES on September 11, 2023
In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), RIDES Public Transit will not discriminate and ensures equal opportunity and access for persons with disabilities.
The US DOT issued a Final Rule under the American Disability Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 which took effect on July 13, 2015. Per this final rule, RIDES Public Transit is required to make reasonable modifications or accommodations to our policies and practices to ensure individuals with disabilities have equal access to RIDE transit programs and services. The ADA does not require RIDES Public Transit to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of its programs or services.
Instructions on how to request a Reasonable Modification are under Reasonable Modification Policy listed below under Forms.
If you feel there has been a violation of ADA a complaint may be filed with the RIDES Executive Director Hugh Lively, by emailing: livleyh@nwiarides.org or in writing to: 522 10th Ave. East Spencer Iowa 51301
